Summary

The Way Home for Wolf is a children's book written by Rachel Bright and illustrated by Jim Field. This book tells the story of Wolf, a wolf pup who loses his mother and is desperate to find her again. But unfortunately for him, the only way for him to do this is by traveling over fields, mountains, and through forests, all on his own. Fortunately, on his journey he finds friends who help him find his way back home and keep him safe.

In chapter one, Wolf finds himself all alone and begins his journey. He walks through unknown woods and forests and encounters some of the creatures that live there – a toad, spider, and a hedgehog. He follows a smell that reminds him of home, but soon notices that it's getting dark. Eventually he finds shelter in an abandoned tree trunk and falls asleep there.

The second chapter has Wolf continuing on his journey. He meets a young rabbit who comes to his aid and helps him find his way down the slopes of the hills. Wolf is able to find a creek, and he gets scared when a flock of blackbirds fly by him. But luckily the rabbit stays with him until they cross a small bridge.

In the third chapter Wolf is wandering in what he knows is a big country, and he becomes more and more lost. He hears a howl and follows it, thinking it's his mom, but instead finds a pack of wolves. When he tries to follow them, the alpha wolf stops him and warns him not to go much further. Wolf heeds the alpha wolf's advise but soon finds himself in trouble again as he is confronted by a scary pack of dogs.

In chapter four Wolf manages to escape from the dogs and finds himself in a beehive. Unbeknown to him, the beehive is actually the home of the bee queen. The queen shows Wolf the way by guiding him home through the night sky.

Chapter five is an emotional turning point in the story. As Wolf continues his journey, he meets three wise owls. They tell him the path of a wolf pup is fraught with danger, but that if he trusts his heart he will know the way. Wolf is comforted by the wisdom of the owls and begins to explore his innermost feelings.

Chapter six finds Wolf scurrying down the riverbank. He sees a family of foxes and joins them in a hunt. During the hunt Wolf gets separated and is found by his mother!

The seventh and last chapter explores the bond between Wolf and his mother. All of Wolf's search and inner struggles pay off for he is now reunited with his mother. Wolf learns a valuable lesson in the end; that believing in yourself and trusting your instincts can help you find your way home.

The Way Home for Wolf is a heartwarming story of courage and determination. It is a beloved classic that can be enjoyed by all ages, teaching us the importance of trusting our instincts and having faith in ourselves.
