Summary

Oi Frog! is a picture book written by Kes Gray and illustrated by Jim Field, the third book in the Oi Frog! series. The story follows the misadventures of Frog as he and his friends explore new places, make new discoveries, and learn valuable lessons along the way. As Frog navigates his way through a variety of new and interesting environments, he learns important lessons about accepting and embracing change.

In Chapter 1, Frog is tasked by Mrs Fox with putting away his favorite chair, a battered armchair that he has grown exceedingly fond of, in order to make room for a new one. Frog resists and tries to think of ways to keep it, but Mrs Fox insists. Eventually, Frog acquiesces and it is removed from the living room. That night, Frog sadly watches as the old chair is carted away in a strange wagon, feeling like he has lost a part of himself with it. In the end, though, Frog learns to accept the change and embraces the new possibilities presented by the new chair.

In Chapter 2, Frog and his friends travel to Panto Bottom, a magical realm full of strange creatures and even stranger occurrences. Frog is initially suspicious and overwhelmed by the chaotic atmosphere of the place and decides to stay put, while the other animals explore and make discoveries. Eventually, Frog’s curiosity gets the better of him and he, too, starts to explore the place, learning new things about himself and the world around him in the process.

In Chapter 3, Frog and his friends find themselves in the Kanelley Forest, a mysterious and sometimes dangerous place filled with dangerous creatures and hidden gems. Frog and the other animals have to use their wits to navigate the puzzling environment and discover the mysterious treasure at the center of the forest. Along the way, Frog learns the importance of working together and collaborating in order to achieve a common goal.

In Chapter 4, Frog and his friends venture into Illusive Island, a land surrounded by an impenetrable fog. When the fog eventually clears, Frog’s friends discover a world full of unexpected creatures and treasures. As Frog explores the island and takes in all the strange sights, he discovers that change can be a source of awe and discovery, if approached with the right attitude.

In Chapter 5, Frog is dispersed from his friends, forced to find his way home alone. He must traverse a murky swamp, and in the process learns the importance of trusting his instincts and his courage in order to keep himself safe. Eventually, he is reunited with his friends and returns safely to his home. Frog reflects on the importance of facing his fears and being brave when the circumstances are less than ideal.

In the end, Frog and his friends have a newfound appreciation for change and all the exciting possibilities it can bring. Through their various adventures, they’ve gained valuable life lessons and a better understanding of how to embrace and make the most out of life’s uncertain changes.
