Inkdeath is the third book of the Inkheart Trilogy by Cornelia Funke. It is a fantasy novel following the adventures of Meggie Folchart, her father Mo, and her aunt Elinor as they come together to try to defeat the evil Adderhead.
In Chapter One, Meggie, Mo, and Elinor travel to the mysterious city of Ombra, where they meet Orpheus and the other inhabitants of the city. In the city, they discover that things are not as they seem and find themselves in the middle of a power struggle for control of the city. Meggie and Mo attempt to help Orpheus and the other citizens of Ombra while trying to uncover the mystery behind the existence of the mysterious ink world.
In Chapter Two, Meggie and Mo discover a way of stopping the Adderhead from taking over the city, but they find themselves in a battle with the Adderhead and his followers. With the help of Elinor, Mo, and two new characters, Dustfinger and Farid, Meggie and her allies are able to get the citizens of Ombra to work together and defeat the Adderhead.
In Chapter Three, Orpheus discovers a way of restoring the Inkworld to its former state. With the help of Elinor, Farid, and Dustfinger, Meggie and Mo are able to raise the ancient and powerful Phoenix and summon the strength needed to return the ink world to its former glory.
In Chapter Four, Elinor and Meggie join forces to find a way to revive the ink masters who were killed in battle. With the help of the Phoenix, the two are able to find a way of bringing the ink masters back to life and returning the ink world to its original state.
In Chapter Five, Meggie and her allies are able to defeat the Adderhead and restore peace to the Inkworld. Meggie, Mo, Elinor, Orpheus, Dustfinger, and Farid come together to celebrate their victory with a grand celebration.
In Chapter Six, Meggie, Mo, and Elinor return home to find that their beloved village of Inkheart has been destroyed and many of its citizens are missing. Meggie is determined to find out what happened to her family and friends and goes on a quest to uncover the truth and save Inkheart from destruction.
In Chapter Seven, with the help of her allies, Meggie is able to locate the missing villagers of Inkheart and bring them back to their homes. Along the way, they uncover more clues as to why the Adderhead was so intent on destroying Inkheart in the first place.
In Chapter Eight, Meggie and her allies find the ancient magical library hidden inside the mountain. Inside, they find answers to their questions and the knowledge of how to restore the power of the Inkworld. With this knowledge, Meggie and her allies are able to revive the ink masters and bring peace to Inkheart once and for all.
In Chapter Nine, Meggie and her allies return to Inkheart to celebrate their victory over the evil Adderhead. As they begin to celebrate, they are visited by the ruler of all ink worlds. He congratulates them on their victory and informs them that the Inkworlds will now be under his protection. With this, the ink world of Inkheart is saved and Meggie and her family can finally have some peace.
