Your Turn to Die

Synopsis

Sue Wallman's most spine-tingling thriller yet!

Every winter, three families gather in an old house in the country to celebrate the New Year. This year, 15-year-old Leah and the other two teens discover that the house has a dark past: a deathbed confession led the police to the buried body of a teenage girl earlier in the year, who had gone missing 50 years before.

As the teens investigate the morbid history, terrible things start happening around the house.

And if Leah isn't careful, this New Year might be her last.

Summary

Chapter 1: The Game Begins

In a deserted villa on an unknown island, nine young strangers are lured into a deadly game hosted by a mysterious figure known as "Mr. Chidouin." Sarah Chidouin, the mastermind behind the game, becomes the first victim when she is executed by Keiji Shinogi, a detective.

Example: Sarah devises an elaborate plan to manipulate the participants, using hidden cameras and fabricated evidence to pit them against each other. She stages her own death to frame Keiji, knowing that his guilt and suspicion will drive the others to chaos.

Chapter 2: Despair and Betrayal

As the participants grapple with the reality of the game, fear and distrust spread like wildfire. Lies, deceit, and manipulation become their weapons of choice. Q-taro Burgerberg, a cheerful coder, is betrayed by his supposed ally, Gin Ibushi, who reveals his true identity as a serial killer.

Example: Q-taro, desperate to escape the island, forms an alliance with Gin. However, Gin uses his charm and intelligence to turn the tables, leading to Q-taro's untimely death. The group is torn between shock and disbelief, realizing they cannot trust anyone.

Chapter 3: Unmasking the Truth

With each murder, the participants delve deeper into the hidden motives and past traumas that drive their actions. Nao Egokoro, a reclusive painter, confronts her own guilt over the death of her sister. Mishima, a cold-blooded killer, reveals his twisted desire for vengeance.

Example: Nao, haunted by visions of her sister's murder, becomes convinced that Mishima is the culprit. She confronts him, but Mishima cunningly shifts the blame onto Keiji, manipulating Nao's emotions and leading her to a fateful decision.

Chapter 4: The Final Confrontation

As the game nears its climax, the remaining participants must confront their own limits and make a choice that will determine their fate. Kai Satou, a gentle music producer, sacrifices himself to save his friend, Alice Yabusame. Sou Hiyori, a secretive government agent, reveals his true identity and the sinister purpose behind the game.

Example: Kai, driven by a deep sense of guilt, takes the blame for a crime he did not commit, knowing it will give Alice a chance to escape. The others are torn between their desire to survive and their sense of justice and loyalty.

Chapter 5: The Game Ends

In a thrilling climax, the participants face off in a final battle of wits and courage. The truth about Mr. Chidouin and the reason behind the game is finally revealed, leaving the survivors with a profound realization about the nature of life and death.

Example: Sou reveals that the game was orchestrated to test the limits of human morality and desperation. The participants, having witnessed the horrors of violence and betrayal, are left to confront their own choices and the consequences of their actions. The game ends with a message of hope and the possibility of redemption.
