Summary

Chapter One
One sunny Sunday, the very hungry caterpillar starts to munch his way through the little food items he finds in his path. The very hungry caterpillar eats through one apple, two pears, three plums, four strawberries, and five oranges. He eats so much that he feels very full. So he takes a major nap for the entire day.

Chapter Two
The next thing the very hungry caterpillar does is eat through an entire piece of chocolate cake, a jar of jelly, a pickle, an ice-cream cone, a slice of Swiss cheese, and a glass of lemonade. He ate so much from all the different items that it made him extremely tired, so he took another nap through the night.

Chapter Three
All this food seems to have made the very hungry caterpillar very big. So he decides to eat even more and this time he goes on to eat a whole lollipop, an entire slice of cherry pie, a sausage, a cupcake, and a slice of watermelon. He kept eating until he was so full, that he could no longer eat anymore.

Chapter Four
Now feeling a lot better, the very hungry caterpillar begins to move around and quickly realizes that he has grown much bigger due to all the food he’s been eating. He starts to move around and finds a leaf, which he quickly eats through. He decides to take a small break to rest and digest all the food he’s eaten.

Chapter Five
The very hungry caterpillar finally takes a moment to look around and notices that he has turned into a beautiful butterfly. He spreads his wings and flies away, but not before leaving behind a little green leaf with the number 24 written on it. This marks the end of the very hungry caterpillar’s journey and his transformation into a beautiful butterfly.
