Kawaii Kitties by Robin Wylde is an optimistic and feel-good story for the modern age. The book tells the story of Nikko, a misunderstood cat who is searching for a place where he belongs. Along the way, Nikko meets a variety of kitties who all teach him the value of friendship, love, and understanding.
In Chapter 1, “The Road to (K)ation,” Nikko finds himself on a journey in search of somewhere he belongs. He meets a variety of kitties on his way, but none seem to understand him. Eventually, he comes across another cat named Danger, who introduces him to a group of cats called the Kawaii Kitties. Nikko soon finds acceptance in the group and joyfully joins them on their kawaii adventures.
In Chapter 2, “The Cat-Ty Castle,” Nikko takes a tour of the Cat-Ty Castle – the Kawaii Kitties’ headquarters. He learns about all the different games and activities the cats enjoy and becomes more and more enamoured with the group. Danger even thinks Nikko might be special enough to become the group’s leader.
In Chapter 3, “A Different Kind of Membership,” Danger takes Nikko to the Cat-Ty Castle’s special membership area. There, Nikko is introduced to all the unique benefits of being part of the Kawaii Kitties group, such as access to special cat-themed parties, outings, and games. Nikko decides to become a full-fledged member and the group welcomes him with open paws.
In Chapter 4, “An Unexpected Feline,” the Kawaii Kitties find an old, smelly stray cat named Furry inside their castle. They all think Furry could use a paw in finding a place of acceptance and welcome her into their warm embrace. Furry tells Nikko about how she felt out of place in her former home, and he helps her feel comfortable and at home with the Kawaii Kitties.
In Chapter 5, “Party Pounce,” Nikko and the Kawaii Kitties host a special birthday celebration for one of their members. The party is full of fun activities, games, and special treats for all the cats. Everyone is having a great time until the party is crashed by some stray cats claiming to be the “real” Kawaii Kitties. The group stands up for their new member and frightens the intruders away.
In Chapter 6, “The Final Battle,” Nikko and the Kawaii Kitties must face off against the same felines who crashed their birthday celebration. After an epic cat fight, the Kawaii Kitties come out victorious and the intruders are chased away. Nikko is praised for his bravery and pronounced the official leader of the Kawaii Kitties.
Chapter 7, “Home Sweet Home,” is the conclusion of the story. All the kitties gather around their leader, Nikko, to revel in their success. Everything is finally in a place of perfect harmony as the cats have found a family and home in each other. Nikko knows that no matter where life may take them, the bond between the Kawaii Kitties is forever.
